Working on a 6040 that needs a new hydraulic pump. They are NLA from agco and NLA from A&I parts. Is there another pump that will fit on this or what has anyone else done? I got 2 160 pumps hoping I could couple them together but not looking good so far.

Have you tried Steiner or Dj’s? Seen them on eBay also. You say the pump is bad, what issue are you having? Slow or no 3pt? Not sure if the 6140 is like the 160 but have you cleaned the hydraulic filter at the seat? Follow the sump pump line to the transmission, is there a hose that connects the 2 pipes together? If it is make sure the clamps are tight and the hose is in good condition. You may be getting air in the line that’s causing the issue.

Disassembled pump and inspected. Has a lot of wear and clearance. Will not suck oil. New orings on suction lines. I can pressurize the sump and it will try to suck oil and once it seems like a good stream I let off the air and it stops pumping immediately. Had the whole suction circuit apart, all looks good and oil level good.

I know on the 160 the sump tube connection at the bell housing and the filter under the cap to the right of the seat are 2 key areas that causes issues. Not sure on a 6140 as I have never seen one. Do you have a manual on yours? I wouldn’t have known about it unless I had a manual. Not sure if rebuild kits are available from AGCO? Ask your AGCO dealer if they have access to the NOS parts chain. My local dealer found me a NOS power steering line that way.

I have googled it. When I’ve ordered discontinued parts in the past lots of places say they have them, but when you order it they don’t actually have it. Ordered the one from SSB so we’ll see if they actually have it.
And AC720MAN, it’s a 6040, not a 6140. 6140 were a different manufacturer from what I understand. |
