I'm looking at a 545 allis Chalmers wheel loader that a neighbor has. Has been sitting for at least ten years but was a ran when parked machine. Says trans might have been slipping but not sure. Has 301 turbo engine. Tires are poor. Can anyone tell me if it's worth $950?

950 bucks doesn't buy anything in this day and age. I say he!! Yes it's worth that much. If you don't take it, let me know. Darrel

That is a really good deal. I don't know how hard it would be for you to get it home when it's at a neighbour but even if it's a non runner you could make good money on parts and then sell the scrap metal. I knew of a guy that had a 545 that the transmission wasn't working well. He took it all apart and in the end it was a very simple fix...a crack or leak in the oil pump pick up tube so it would suck air at the same time as trying to pick up oil. Since then I've heard of it being the same on other 545's.
Currently- WD,WC,3WF's,2 D14's B. Previously- I 600,TL745,200,FL9,FR12,H3,816 LBH. Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal!

I'll look into that. I was told that the trans may have been slipping when it was parked. But not sure.
