Has anyone made a 530 work on an old N series?
I'm getting tired of chasing around the field with a little 15' 300 series head at 600 mph.
I would rather go 2.5-3 mph.

I know I would need a different feeder house and figure out a way to run the reel, anything else?

Without a lateral tilt throat, I think you'll be disappointed.

I couldn't get away with just using duals?

I’d recommend you demo a lateral tilt gleaner(dealer, dealer’s client, neighbor???) before you make your move to 30’. Lateral header tilt usually becomes essential for wider(25?,30’+)sizes. So with out it, your dualled N5 could be required to make another chase pass back to “clean up” in terrain areas, not to mention grain loss from too high Sickle cuts on high side and/or excessive end-gauging from low side.

Duals will definitely help, yes.   Duals on a 20 ft equals a 15 footer with singles.

Drove 3 hours to the dealer today, apparently it's been sold.

Around me the 20 foot is most popular for older combines of that size and vintage but there are some with 25 foot heads. My buddy has a 25 foot on his old 1660. Fields in my area are gently rolling.

That fact that it's 30 ft wide for the capacity of the combine isn't the issue. It's keeping the cutterbar cutting evenly without a lateral tile that would concern me.

Cost more than the combine is worth. Used combines are cheap now

I totally agree, but this is a very nice N5 and I can't swing a used combine, not for at least a couple decades.

Look for a 20 foot and call it good.
