Buddy asked me which is correct...black letters or blue letters for a 52 Wd. I'm thinking black but I'm sure someone smarter than me will know for sure.

Blue was generally before WWII or around that time.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

I had read somewhere that only the 1949 WD had blue letters with the long "A" and long "S".  That would cover Serial Numbers 9-9280; with #9 being a 1948 and #9280 being Model year 1949.  R. Musgrave

Dads one owner 49 WD has black but he repainted it in the 60's.I was very young then but don't remember it being any different. I'm pretty sure he would have put it back like it was,but can't be certain.

Folks,
There should be dimensions of decal placement somewhere in the technical section for all the tractors. Just saying. I see them all over the place. I dont think I have mine in the right spots on WD series.

Black with WD on the side of grill shell. I believe they went to that in 1950. Same with B and C I think. When I ordered my decals years ago from Lyle Wacker for my 1952 WD I called him and talked to him and he had all the serial number splits and other pretty reliable information as to when the change took place. He's gone now and I think his family at one time was still producing the correct decals. If they are still in the business they would be a good source for your decals.
