I read a while ago somewhere, that there was no longer a supplier for sleeves and piston kits for this engine, is that the situation?

At one time I thought Ivan Sumerix was getting pistons made. Don’t know if he still has anything or not.

Wouldn’t it be the same as a 8550?
I think jensales might have an overhaul kit….

I noticed that JanSales kits(out-of-frame overhaul kit & piston kit) both state, “please call for availability.” On the other hand, some of that engine’s other kits state, “add to cart” like they’re readily available?

Here’s a link to it.

Thanks.  From looking at the price listed for the kit I am now confident it's getting a different engine, most likely an 11.1 liter detroit

I never like “repowers” in rare tractors because it ruins the tractor…
Like the 855 Cummins repower in the 8550s, it ruined the looks.
It’s only my personal thoughts so don’t mind me, it your tractor…
I’ve always like the intake manifold that says Allis Chalmers…

I guess I never asked, what is going on with the tractor?
Is it just burning some engine oil or is it something more serious?

I totally agree with 55allis. It's your tractor and you can do whatever you choose to do. If I was fortunate enough to own a rare tractor like this I would search every corner of the earth to find what I needed to keep it original. Just my 2 cents. Ryan

You could also maybe find a good 6138T (844 ci) and use that for your repower engine, been done many times and still all AC. The pistons are the hardest part to find for the 6120T, sleeves are the same as the 6138. Good Luck, Mike

Injector tip broke, piston pounded the pieces a bunch of times, have not pulled the an yet, but she had a massif knock going on idling into the barn. I need this tractor to work for me, engine has over 3000 hrs on it, just since coming to my place alone. and has been using more oil than in the past the last few years.  i think any change I can make to make my equipment more reliable, more efficient and do  better job is worth the effort.  the rest of the tractor is in very good condition, newer tires as well

Heitmans tractor might be able to help, but it’s in Wisconsin so I don’t know how it would work crossing the border…. I can give you his phone number if you want it, just let me know.
From your description it’s a possible savable engine as long as it didn’t smash the block, my thoughts are “if it runs, it’s savable”.
I have a 45D that wasn’t timed right and the valves hit the pistons right after an overhaul but it didn’t ruin them and it still runs good after setting the timing right…

I also hope you can keep it Allis since it is a rare 305.   I have run an 8550 when it rolled over the 10000 hr mark and it was running good at those hours.   Granted I was pulling a 50' Degelman land roller at the time so it was not under heavy load.
