I’m looking at a nice Vann Guard 3 pt log splitter. It plugs into 2 remotes of the tractor. A single handle operates the ram on the splitter. Gentleman used this on a 170. It’s been a few years since he used it but thinks he pulled back both remote levers that supplied fluid to the splitter. That doesn’t make since to me. How would this work on my XT or 6060? Would the levers need to be in float?

I had 1 on my series 4. Hooked up to the hydraulic, I tied the 1hyd lever back and just used the lever on log splitter. It worked well that way.

Tom, so you connected to the 2 remotes that’s on 1 lever pulled back? I’m guessing it’s putting constant pressure on the splitter while the lever is operated to split, when it’s pulled back it flows back to the tractor? Is this hard on the pump on the tractor?

I guess it’s similar to hooking up our driver except the driver uses one hydraulic line with a dump hose that goes back to the trans sump.

Used one years ago on a 6080 and it had 2 hoses and used a bungie on 1 lever to hold it.
The splitter used a ram with a control lever to work back and forth. Only issue was it was slow to operate but powerful

We bought the splitter and it works very well on the 6060. Remote lever on the tractor stays back on its own and the one lever on the splitter moves it in both directions. Doesn’t even grunt when it split walnut on its test split.

I hooked it up just like I would hook up a 2 way cylinder on my tandem disk. I never heard any noise from the hydraulic pump.

the valve on the log splitter is OPEN CENTER and runs the oil back to the tractor when the lever is in the center... You stroke the lever FWD or REV to move the cylinder.. When you put the lever in center, the oil runs back to tractor and never stalls.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.
