Stopped at local mechanics shop and he is doing an OH on a 190XT. He pointed out that on this 2900 block there is no oil hole for the rear cam bearing to line up with. Are they all that way or this block a fluke?

So is it normal to have that bearing fail long before the other cam bearings. This thing had plenty of hours on it, but that bearing looked horrible.

I was once told they are oiled by magic lol! But I bet what doc said is true if you look at the old bearings. Also, put the new ones in the freezer until right before you install them. Makes it way easier to press them in.

once overhauled a 2900 out of a cat scan gen power unit. 12000 hours. The cam lobes were almost flat, lifters were cupped unreal, cam brgs were almost perfect - except front was showing bronze, as stated, magic,,, don't screw with perfection....

cam bearings rely on oil draining back from rockers to lube bearing journals.it is not pressure fed lube
