I picked up a new item for the herd at a consignment auction last weekend. First if anyone is parting a 2300 disc out I am in need of the big spring on the hitch leveling screw, its broke in two. I seem to be missing the gang angle adjusting lever/handle with the anchor pin. I do have the adjusting lever link rod, but it is holding the depth stop on so I need the proper pin for that as well. I need (5) good used scrapers, left and right each. My disc has the optional disc gang connectors, but they are all cobbled up so one good one for a pattern would be helpful. I could also use a set of gang wrenches if anyone has them. I would imagine they are easier to use then a pipe wrench with a section of 1 1/4" water pipe on the handle. Now for the questions: The rear discs measure about 20 3/4" so I assume they were 22" new. The fronts measure just shy of 20", could they have wore down more than the rears? I don't imagine you would purposefully put different sizes on. Are the disc gang connectors important enough to warrant rebuilding them? Currently there smooth blades on the front and my current disc (AC 2013) has notched. Will I miss them, should I look at replacing the fronts with notched?

Nice find. Mine has 22" blade front an back. The scrapers are still available. Not sure without part number on adjuster rod but I might have NOS one. And I don't have any experience with the connectors. Good luck

I know the scrappers are available, but the cost is a bit prohibitive. The gang angle adjusting lever is 70573747.

I guess I have one more question. I thought I had greaseable bearings, but it turns out only on the one wing I checked for that, go figure. Is the bearing itself different or just the flange plates?

I have had 3 2300's and still have 1. None of them had the gamg couplers and they all worked fine. I have several scrapers around but none of the other parts you need. I have a set of the factory wrenches but only want to sell them with the disc i have. It's a 17 foot hydraulic fold. If your interested pm me. Located in northern Indiana.

Hi Michael
I don't have that number, have the rod 575864, also some gang connectors 573102, and multiple wrench 334140 an pretty sure 349955. I'm not sure if them bearings had the hole in them for grease. The new ones you get have the hole in them and you can just get the one side of the flange with fitting in it. But that would be a big job to take the gangs apart to put the grease able flanges in. Some day if you ever had them apart it would be worth doing though. |

I might have a 2300 that is going to be parted out, not for sure yet. They are nice light discs, and do a good job

Thanks for the information so far.
How necessary are the optional rear gang extensions/furrow eradicators? Anyone have a pair? One old post I found made it sound like the greaseable bearings were bigger and needed smaller spools when changing, but this post says the old non greaseable bearings had a spacer in the flanges. Can anyone shed some light into this? Got my AC disc brochure in the mail and it seems I have a 2317f as I have 48 blades. I did find it odd that the chart in the owners manual does not match up to my disc blade count, I suppose that chart is based off different spacings. Anyway, will my 185 handle this disc or do I need the 6080?

Mike, I am using the online parts manual.
Looking at your wrench numbers they do not seem to match the 70572756 & 70572824 listed online.

Oh I'm sorry I just double checked. They fit 2200 disk. The wrenches are on the last page of 2200 section. Which is before 2300. Didn't read top of page
As for the bearing my parts book says (sleeves no longer used) Do you need bearings or just want to grease to prevent needing them Edited by Mikez - 27 Mar 2018 at 2:18pm |

Mike, I do need a few of the bearings replaced. I would like to be able to grease them all, but my understanding as of now is the old bearings are not adaptable to greasing as they didn't have a hole, I assume the sleeves would get in the way also.

Ok, we'll I can only speak from my experience on my disk and how I understand parts book. You would just get the bearing that's listed and get the flange that has grease fitting in it. Mine were greasable so I do not know if like yours would have hole in it.
Are the bearings you need to replace on the same gang Edited by Mikez - 06 Apr 2018 at 4:32pm |
