Started the bulk tear down of the WC.
Though it was new to me, dad was well aware.  We had to raid the antique wrench box of my grandfathers for the 32nds size wrenches.  But nuthin to fit the long arm for the extra leverage.  It was lucky to still have all the original tools (maybe not as we don't through out much)
Not sure if my wife will be happy see me come home with more tools...but maybe not as hiding a tractor as some seem to be trying to do.
metric works in a pinch but some of them can get jammed in the socket pretty tight.

Still like the thought of adding to the tool box though I never need much reason.

Here's Dad assessing the project.  Canadian weather has been hard on the sheet metal and tires but the rest is in good shape,  The inch of oil and grease on the engine has preserved t well.

I agree,  I have a three different sizes of those.  My tool of choice used to be vise grips.  though both can spread.  Those really stuck heads like a six point socket....Or the torch.  If it ain't a stud I'm not too concerned. It is nice that my grand father took good care of his stuff while in use. If it hadn't been for the lack of barn space this would have never been left outside. any bolts that have been off for maintaince might have well been off last fall.  It's the ones that havn't been off since it left the factor that are the problem.
But I must say to me it feels good to use the same tools that where used on the tractor when it was in use.

Although I have one from a very old Sears socket set never have I ever used a 23/32 socket, except to knock it on a rusted 3/4 nut.
Now the 19/32 in the same set is a differant story. I have used it. Once,,, in close to 50 years of spinning wenches again aside of knocking it on rusted 5/8 nuts.

Joking aside,I won't be rushing out to get the specific 32nd's sockets.  Picking the closest thin or the adjustable to get them off. and standard sizes will be going back on unless it is threaded into cast, like the bolts holding on tht gas tank/light mount on.  But those will never come off in my life time again.  They are only coming off for painting anyways.  And I do have my grandfathers wrenchs once the bolts have broken loose.

Ya, I don't want to grab a new tool I'll use once.

Redwood, try an 18 mm metric socket. If the socket has 10/1000's clearance it should go on. 23/32 works out to about 18.25 mm if my math is right

if memory serves, there's something on the right front side of a WC or WD that uses a 19/32 socket.  Might've had something to do with the steering shaft support.
