Has anyone ever installed a 226 in a CA is it possible with out alot of trouble?

It is not just a bolt on if that is what your asking. You would need an adaptor plate to mount it to the clutch housing to start with. If that part is not much trouble for you then your home free.

That wouldn't be to hard to fabricate. Do you think the flywheel and clutch would fit inside the CA?

Jim anythings possible .I really think a 160 engine could probably be upgraded to run just as close a hp number as a mildly modified 226

Jim. Your supposed to be working and not daydreaming !!! The 160 from a D-15 series II is popular in the CA's. May be hard to find and for sure are expensive to rebuild since the 160 parts are only supposed to be available from AGCO. Its a bolt in.

The G160 is the best. Bored and stroked, it is a BAD unit. You don`t have the weight of the 226 and it bolts in.

You would need to use the CA flywheel to match the starter to the ring gear on the flywheel or machine dowm the 226 flywheel to accept the CA ring gear and clear the starter head. You get to machine and re balance the flywheel which ever way you go.
The starter would have to be moved forward the the thickness of the adaptor plate.
Just a lot of little details that you wouldn't want to miss.
You would have to build an adaptor to bolt the CA front fast.
I thought about it some in the past but that is far as I will ever get to trying it.

As far as flywheels go I think the easiest route is to redrill the CA flywheel to fit the 226 crank and also machine a steel spacer the same thickness as your adaptor plate so that the starter bendix would align properly with the ring gear. Kip
