Mine did that a few years ago.  Got it to release turning back and forth and hitting the brakes.  Still going, mechanic said don't worry about it unless it keeps doing it.

Ouch! You might try jacking one side up and try turning -pulling that wheel backwards?  Was it run low on oil? As Dr. said its a big job and could be expensive.

Farmtoybuilder, the wheels turn ,I've been driving it around the shop trying to get it to break loose but it's like kicking the diff lock pedal the front tires just slide when you try to turn. Maybe the seven bottom had something to do with it, who knows.

Was the land wheel spinning alot before this happened?  Mine was.  Made a screeching noise trying to turn until it broke free.  Also try in reverse.

Spinning will take out the differential. When I was at Peterson Implement back in the early 80's they all said they never had any rear end problems with any 210 or 220 they sold except for a new one that had a pin hole (bad cast) in the rear main casting which they replaced of course because it leaked oil.

To prevent differential failures it is imperative to have the oil level in the hydraulic/transmission compartment FULL of oil and even an inch (5 extra gallons? on a 220) overfull would be better in an attempt to submerge the differential in oil. It is also equally important to have enough weight (fluid/cast iron/dual wheel or all three) on the land wheel to keep the slippage to a minimum. A properly operating Traction Booster is also a good thing along with a land wheel tire that has good tread on it and no more than 135 rated HP.

Peterson Implement was adamant about not turning up horse power. In fact they would encourage 7080 owners to derate to 7060 specs back in the 80's. Not because of rear end failures but cause of the high output 426 problems. Even on old 45's and 17's they would discourage owners from going to upgrade kits like a 17 kit into a 45 etc.
