On my 200 when I have the throttle on half open the tractor is at full throttle. Which end of the throttle cable do I need to adjust at the throttle or down at the pump.

Just out of curiosity, what are the engine rpm's when the throttle lever is back in the idle position?

Tractor data says a 7000 (virtually the same engine) is set at 775 rpm low idle.

This didn't change on its own. Did you just buy the tractor this way?? or did you just replace the throttle cable?? I think the cable is connected to the wrong hole on the throttle lever. One hole for a gas/LP tractor and another hole for a diesel.

At an idle it's 700 rpm. I bought the tractor this way.

This is what my thoughts were, can not imagine why a "sudden" change in idle/wot rpm's ??

He didn't say the RPM's were wrong. He said the throttle lever only has to go half stroke to get to wide open speed.

My apologies, my first thought was "half throttle lever=max rpm's" that the low end of the throttle lever "might" be 400 rpm's? Now that you say that, how do any of us as readers know what this guy is considering "full throttle"?? He never gave any tach readings??!!

Sorry my bad but when the tach is pegged that full throttle. max rpms. I just to get this fixed before I get in the fields and doesn't ruin my new tachometer by pegging it.

for the record, rpms should be 600 at low idle, 2400-2450 at high idle. Adjust the linkage so the pump lever is pulled to it's stops, without over traveling too far one way over the other.

The throttle hand lever should have no bearing on maximum or minimum RPM's. Those settings are on the injection pump lever. If the hand lever is adjusted correctly (and in the correct hole) it will have a bit of overtravel on each end of the stroke, which the injection pumps lever can deal with.

Acplowboy are you saying the tach is peged at half throttle or is it reading say 2700 rpm cause throttle cable adjustment does not adjust high or low rpm what is it actually showing for rpm both high and low rpm pegged is not a number

Mine is the opposite. I have to push it about 1/3 to be at idle then about 3/4 or so it is Wide open.

With throttle lever all the back at an idle it's 600 RPM when I throttle up I push the throttle lever half way the rpms show 2600 plus because it goes way past the 2600 on the tachometer. DrAllis I need to pull the aluminum cover plate off and see where the throttle lever holes are.

I would not sweat the fact that you see 2600 RPM on the tachometer. Many tractors do that due to worn pulleys on the alternator and weak springs on the tach. You need to remove the inner side cover to the console and look at where the cable end is connected, if what you claim of the throttle only needing 50% movement to achieve full engine speed. If this is true, then moving the throttle more than 50% stroke must not change the engine speed at all, correct ???

Finally got it fixed, the throttle cable was in the wrong hole on the throttle lever...Dr.Allis thanks for your help. Works like it's supposed to now.
