That's an AC plow? The colors look like a Deere. I'd almost say Oliver except for the yellow wheel.

Please read AC Plows Parts 101 up top.
Allis made many different bottoms for different soil conditions, but they almost universally use the same mounts. The frogs, shares, moldboards, and braces can be unique to the bottom number though there are groups that share the same shares, while landsides and coulters are almost universal. My guess is that is a #2 or #4 pull behind plow but knowing the plow frame generally won't identify the bottoms. You need to find a part number on moldboard, shin (if it has one separate), share, or frog, then from the down loads in the last comment on AC Plows Parts 101 you can find the bottom and then ask for parts. There is a vendor or two on this forum with original parts. What I see are rusty bottoms, but not worn out bottoms. They will clean up and polish with a flap wheel on a grinder. The abrasive will cut the rust but not the hardened steel or iron. They will also clean up plowing sandy soil, the more sand the better. You might need to carry a 3" wide scraper to knock off sticky dirt build ups until they polish. The plow bottoms book does show inner details of frog and share mounting and bracing in most cases. But there are not enough unique features to identify a bottom for certain. I would guess a 24 or 25 bottom but I am only guessing. Gerald J. |

Thanks Gerald...I did download the plow 101 and the parts of the manuals that refer to the 2 bottom plows...I did not happen to see a dealer for the parts on the original post...will look again.

Brother has read thru the catalogs and the AC Plow 101 - Thank you for that information. He has asked me to type this:
According to parts catalog on coulter and joints/ moldboards parts manuals- frog is #309241(which it says it is a #24),the tail piece is 304059, the shares : one is 308880 (solid NC deep suck), the other share is 308880-CRDS it has a #50 and #2 just in a different spot on the casting. I was not able to find in the catalog - the moldboard part no which is 309244 (got off the machine), the shin no is 309242, the landslide is 309243 (15"). I could probably build the landslide if I had the specs. What is the difference between the NC or CR on the shares? Are the plow bolts universal or are they a AC specialty item? I need one landslide, one tail piece, and would prefer two shares - deep suck for rocky soil. Any help with dealer to talk to - new or used parts - would appreciated sincerely. Thank you. |

There is a part number index at the back of the book. Shows those shares are used on 3 bottoms, while the frog and shin was only used on the 124 bottom. Same for the moldboard. Something like 9 options for shares. For rocky soil you probably want soft center steel shares to be least likely to break.
Still doesn't identify the plow frame. I did see a part number but its not in the books I have. I still think its probably a #2 or #4. That's not a manual I've needed. There are some pictures of #1 and #2 with iron wheels at: http://www.allischalmers.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=46367&title=no-2-steel-plow on this forum. Gerald - thank you for the information...another question- do you know what the original diameter of the coulter was?
Thanks. |

On pages 12 and 13 of the plow bottoms book is a coulter for a #4 plow. It shows blades offered in 15, 16, and 18 inches. Other coulters for 60, 70, 80, and 9000 plow frames also offered 17 and 20". I'm sure it depends on the bottom. The bigger the coulter the easier it will go in the ground, but it has to fit between the tip of share and the frame. Else it goes too deep or won't swing freely. The parts book gives no hit to match coulter diameter and plow bottom.

Gerald, I am pretty sure that the #2 was the only one available with a tail wheel that lif
ted and carried the rear zof the plow. Amuses me to no end when a bleed green has to resort to an off brand so they can get the job done and to cover up their own colorblind they paint the thing JD colors, LOL. |
