Drivers side window motor/gearbox died. 12v all the way up to the motor, but action from motor either way.
Question; how best to remove the electric motor/gear box.
2nd question; in the interim, how can I get the window up? I have the inside door panel removed, and the plastic sheathing, exposing all access holes, but I can see any room to remove motor/gearbox. TIA.
I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

Usually you can get them up by putting your hands on both sides of window. Wiggle and shake and pull up hard! May take 2 people.  Can you see any of window or is it all the way down? If down take a prybar to appropriate spot on regulator.

The window is about 1” up from bottom.

Remove the wing window frame. It will be bolted down low in the door shell and a screw or two in the upper door shell. With this frame removed, slide the glass forward on the rollers till it clears the rear roller. Tilt the glass down in the front and lift at the rear and it will slide free of the front roller. Remove the glass from the door shell. There will be either three, or four 1/4" rivets retaining the window regulator to the door shell. Knock the center of these in with a punch and drill them out. Remember to disconnect the window motor wiring and extract the regulator assembly from the door shell. Anymore you can purchase the regulator and motor built up cheaper than just the motor but use the proper "splay" rivets when reinstalling or you won't be happy.....

most of the NEWER stuff , you remove the glass, then the motor and cotroller... on the OLDER vehiclels, a lot of time you can leave the wing window and the main window all the way UP... and pull the motor out from  below them...

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Got the glass out, then got the motor and gearbox w/arm out.
Hooked direct to battery, just quick little jerk barely noticeable. Took arm off, still no movement, took cover off gearbox everything there was good, opened up end of motor opposite of arm, and it was chock full of black carbon like crud, both copper/brass things that are pushed by springs against the shaft look to be not much left, I thinks one was jamming half sideways. More than likely time to order a whole new unit.

From your description, that's classic brush wear.  the best way to avoid having to do it every, again is to find a junkyard truck with manual windows, and use that as a donor...Wink

Just go to the parts store and order a new regulator and motor. Comes as a unit. Not a hard job and not too expensive. Replace and drive on!! You will probably never have to do again. Smile I did the left side twice on my 99 GMC but only because it was a plow truck. l had the window up and down constantly - bad habit I still have when plowing!!!
