Hello all. New guy here.

I've got a 1968 HD 4 with a backhoe attachment and bucket loader. It's been good to me and I used it quite a bit last year with almost no problems.

The last few times I used it, it began to feel like the clutch was beginning to slip. Sometimes it would take several seconds to shift, sometimes it would shift but slip under load, sometimes if I rev'd up the engine it would work a little better but when I finally parked it last fall, I barely got it into the barn. It's definitely something that happened over time, as opposed to all at once.

It slips in all gears (3 speed), and both forward and reverse. I started it up the other day and I got it to move 30 foot or so, but it definitely needs to be fixed before I can use it again.

I have a manual and I plan to check the pressure/s, although the manual isn't exactly written for a layman.

Is there anything else that it could be besides a worn out clutch? How do I check it? Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.

It is a clutch pack and a torque converter , so slippage could be from wear in the fwd/rev clutch plates or even from low converter pressure.

The fluids look good to me. The tranny fluid is at the low end of the crosshatches on the dipstick though. I'll make sure I put some in before I start tearing things apart.

Check all your pressures , change filter, and be sure it is full.
