I am seeking advice on what i have done to my tractor. So a couple weeks ago i got stuck in the mud so i left it unti the ground froze. Today when i tryed to drive out the wheels were frozen in the icey mud. i let out the clutch and a loud pop happened but the tires did not spin! Now I am stuck and have no rear wheel drive at all! Does anyone have any idea what i might have broken?? The high low feels ok and pto spins and all the gears seem fine just back wheels dont even try to turn. If anyone has any ideas please send em to me

You may have broken your tractor. And that's not a good thing! I don't have the answer, but it doesn't sound like a easy fix to me? I am sure the experts will be along shortly.

I would say put the tractor in neutral get something big to pull it out of the ice. I would probably wait for the ground to thaw myself but you might have already done the damage. Once it is out jack it up and try turning the rear wheels by hand. If the rear end is still ok the rear tires should turn in opposite directions. Then I would probably try to roll it in gear to see if the motor turns over. If I had to guess I would say you broke something in the rearend. That might actually not be too bad because the rearend is not a common part to brake there are probably alot of complete good units out there for short money.
Don't feel too bad we all do things like this at times. I have often heard a bang and thought well it seemed like a good idea at the time.
Welcome to the forum. You will have to get the tractor out to really figure out what it needs but I don't think it will be that bad cost wise to fix. I have the same serries 1 d17 they are very nice tractors.

Tonight I was able to have a backhoe drag my tractor out of icey mud. Once on rock driveway i tryed to see if anything would happen when letting clutch out. The tractor would move a couple feet foward before an awful clunking sound started coming from the axle housing and then the left tire would lock up. if i drove it in reverse same effect happend...

Well now you know what to take apart. I think I would look for a parts tractor with a good rearend and swap it out. Probably easier and cheaper.
