Have been doing a lot of work on my 190, brakes, fenders, bearings for the hi low. And i took the cover off the shift lever assembly, greased the ball joint on the lever, replaced the o ring and a washer on the actual shift rod that comes out of the transmission, put it all back together , now it won't shift into reverse, seems to go in and out of all the other gears just fine. can't get it into reverse. Any help is appreciated!!! it shifted hard into reverse before thats why i try to be sure everything was lubricated, it will go into reverse with out the cover but the lever needs to go almost over to the brake pedals, and will go behind them if let go. Thanks again !

The bolt that connects the gear shift to the shift rod is too long and hits the cover. Turn around the bolt or try a different one. Had that happen to mine last month!

Checked the bolts out,in the same ones back in in the same direction they came out. Any other ideas??????????? Could the shift lever have gotten out of place with the internal levers and how do we correct that ?????

FIXED i think
Thought more about the bolts, took the cover off again and studied the whole set up, then tightened the two bolts on the two clevises. Now the whole thing shifts tightly but works, put the cover back and still shifts nicely. it is tight but shifts the best it has since i bought the tractor. Maybe the bolts hit at that.
