Friend of mine has a 190 gas, looking for a fuel pump rebuild kit, can't seem to find one. Anyone know of a supplier?

No, but he could send it to Hite Parts Exchange in Columbus, OH to have it rebuilt.

Hopefully this information is not outdated:
Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, we have a kit for your Carter fuel pump. It would use our number "CK-4220". The cost is $47.50 plus S&H. I have attached a picture of the kit to this email so you can see what parts come with it. If you'd like to order it, please call the store at 781-335-8860 anytime between 8 am and 5 pm M-F. When you call, ask for Ted, and give him the part number above.

I had that problem with my gas 4020 years ago. I didn't like the price for the Deere replacement pump, so I went to an electric pump. I made a plate to cover the hole in the block for the original camshaft driven pump that was adding gasoline to the oil and bolted the electric pump to that plate. I wired it to run all the time the ignition switch was on. It worked much better than the mechanical pump when the tractor had been sitting long enough for the gas in the carburetor to have evaporated. New starting procedure, turn on the ignition switch and listen for the electric pump to run and then get quiet. Then pull on the choke and start cranking with the starter and got nearly instant running, no cranking the engine to get the mechanical pump to refill the carburetor. I think the pump I bought was from NAPA in their old store in Story City, now a thrift shop with NAPA in a new store nearly two blocks south of that location.

The number 781-335-8860 was good the last time i called them. and at that time S&H was $8.50. There are electric fuel pumps on ebay for cheap too....

Crap I should have thought of the electric fuel pump fix, that might be the way to go. His 190 has low hours but starts hard, switching to an electric pump might solve two problems. Or he could try to buy the repair kit first, it might be that the existing pump was bad from the start. Thanks guys.

I think Mike Fahrendorf (Skyhighballoon(MO) had a post about pumps you could buy and take the parts out and put in the AC pumps to rebuild them. He has not been on in over a year hope he is ok
