Had a 185 with the hydraulic pto great tractors it will give you a semblance of independent pto but when you push in the foot clutch it still kills everything. My opinion the 185 is one of the best tractors allis ever made it had enough horsepower to do some big work and small enough to do smaller things

As said, it’s an option and common on the later tractors. We have 3 185’’s that are in full service, 2 with hydraulic PTO. I like it better for field PTO work as you can start and stop without waiting for the tractor to idle down. I do like the mechanical PTO better for hooking up implements as the brake on the hydraulic PTO does not allow any movement in the shaft. Make sure the brake works on any tractor 180 on up with hydraulic PTO if you are looking at them. When weak, they drift until the oil warms up and could cause serious hand injury. Out of the bigger/smaller tractors, they are the most used tractors on our small beef operation and I agree as one of the best AC’s built.
