Dad's 185 took some damage in the wind-storm last August. Muffler and pre-cleaner had a 'lean' to them. Really didn't want to plant corn with an obstructed view. Saturday we removed the hood, muffler, and pre-cleaner. Straightened things out and got the old girl back in one piece, well except the muffler. Got one of the new Nelson models from Alex. It got to the house Tuesday after I left for work. Installed Wednesday. Looks good, sounds great. Before and after pics. ![]() ![]() |

That's some strong wind! Even the radiator neck got bent. After picture looks better! Did you notice any sound difference?

Alex, it does sound a little different. Will have to get her outside for the acid test. Gene, I really like running this tractor. Planting corn with it is just cool!

Nice work on the 185 restoration. That must have been some wind-storm. The 185 looks very clean and in great shape.....good for you and your father for keeping it original looking so well

Wow.......looks like the rear tire prevented the wall from doing further damage. The 185 looks very well maintained and OEM from the rear as well Thanks for sharing your story

Mike, the term sucked is an understatement as to the impact of that storm. Never seen anything like it and hope to never again

My combine actually took the brunt of that wall, kind of minimized damage to the 185 and my 1066. I'll see if I can find a picture of the 1460. The unloading auger tube was shot and slated for replacement, storm removed all doubt. Wound up replacing both augers, the end tube, and a bunch of sheet-metal. Plumber, I had/have lots of other adjectives to describe it but, family site you know. ![]() |

The shed will be rebuilt, October is what the builder is telling us. They are a little busy in this part of the world now. had the dirt guy out this week to look at the grading that needs done. De-compiling the old one was a lot of work. It was originally a cattle barn, Dad fed hay on the South side. Stored small squares on North. When he got out of the cattle business it turned into a machine shed of sorts.
