I have a 185 that runs good for about 5 min. then starts to skip. When I take the fuel filter off it's empty. All lines are clear to the filter and I''ve blown out the filter housing and that is clear. Flow is good butt could a bad rubber seal on the line let it suck air and not fuel? I've also blown out the return line to the tank and it's clear. Once you prime the filter after doing this it will run fine again for about 5 min. then the same thing. Any ideas of would could be causing this? Thanks, Gary

One step at a time here. Remove the sediment bowl ASSEMBLY and while you hold your finger in the hole with fuel running down your arm, have a friend gently blow backwards into the filter base and dislodge whatever is stuck in it. Do this first and then report back for step two.

It didn't have a sediment bowl at first, just a rubber line. I ordered the original line and bowl and when I drained the tank to install I had good flow. I'll check it again though and let you know what I find.

Probably crud in the tank as to the first one being 'gone', with the new one you will probably find it full of junk on the inlet screen.
I lost fuel to my 180 the same as you described, Doc Allis gave me the same suggestions and they worked.

Unhooked lines and sraind fuel , it did not seem to have a great flow but it was steady. This was unhooked at the primer pump. I blow out all the lines and everything was clear. The new sediment bowl and line were from ACGO. I should also say it was doing this before I replaced the rubber line for the factory set up. Replaced the fuel after doing this and it ran good for 5 min and started skipping again. When I remove the plug on top of the filter housing to prime it I can here it sucking air.

Gravity flow should be a stream from the tank, shine a light from the fill neck to the tank fitting and look for debris in the bottom.

Have you screwed the settlement bowl out of the bottom of tank(not just takeing the bowl off)?
Don't blow back through line into tank. You just blow crap that was in line or bowl fitting back in to tank just to have to deal with it again. MACK
