I have an Allis one-eighty diesel I acquired a few years ago. It has a block heater on it and also a heater connected to the water hoses. Why would there be two heaters on it? I have used the block heater, and it does heat the engine up. Just wondering if there is a reason to have both and to use one over the other. Thanks, Dave

usually tank heaters were used when no place for a block heater. Don't see advantage one over the other. Maybe a low watt block heater VS a 1500wt tank heater?

Could be an old timer that didn't like block heaters. 1 Reason I've heard was they thought would cause pitting on the two cylinders thats next to heater. 2 reason i heard tank heaters heat whole cooling system uniformly because they make coolant flow

You would have to ask one of the previous owners. Some of them do pretty strange things... |

maybe with both of them, they could get it heated quicker in the mornings , instead of having them on all night?
