180 Allis won't start

   Runs with spray understand the fundamentals but can't seem to find the lift pump. No it's there somewhere. Anybody have the diagram of the diesel fuel system please.

	Pretty simple. Gravity feed fuel flow from the fuel tank to the sediment bowl and then to the hand primer. Hand primer to the fuel filter and then to the injection pump. The injection pump is a RoosaMaster/Stanadyne with a built in transfer pump. Can't get much simpler than that. Now, what's the full story ?? Tractor just purchased by you and it hasn't run in years ?? Or it ran last week and now it won't start ?? Fuel shut off knob has to be OUT on an Allis-Chalmers to run.

	Thank you. Inherited from grand father. Ran last spring so 18 months ago. Saw a lift pump on line but didn't see it on tractor. Why I asked. what you said makes sense with what I see. I will drain the tank change filter and start from there. Thanks again

	What happens with today's diesel having bio mass in it, is it degrades when let sit a few months. It gets gummy and will keep the parts inside the pump from moving, and they won't pump fuel. I rebuild a bunch of them here in my shop for this very reason. Odds are the pump was about due for a freshening up anyway. I strongly suggest not keep trying to force it to run if it is indeed nasty inside the fuel system. You'll know when you change filter lol! The top of the filter will be a clue as to what the inside of the injection pump looks like. Service it before it locks up from being forced to run. I have had to replace hydraulic heads because people just keep trying to make it run when it's not happy. Gets to be a very expensive repair at that point.
