175 is five more than 170.
As I understand it rated rpm is the biggest difference |

There are 3 ways to do job GOOD, FAST, CHEAP. YOU MAY CHOOSE 2. If its FAST & CHEAP it won't be GOOD, if it's GOOD & CHEAP it won't be FAST, and if its GOOD & FAST it won't be CHEAP!!!!

No major differences. 170 diesel uses the Perkins 236 and so did first year 175s. All other 175s had the 248 Perkins.

One interesting trivia fact about the 175 gas is it was the last gas tractor AC built.

54 HP versus 60 HP. All 175's had 185 final drives, which were geared a little slower. All 175's had a 15% faster second gear in the transmission. 175's had a hydraulic oil cooler (I think).

Mine does not have an oil cooler - 1977, family owned since new. |

And I think it was standard in 1971, but later made an option on the 175 tractor as a cost reducing change.
