I have D17V/170/175 disc's and bands. I have enough 6.5" disc's, 4 bands. I will have to call Frank and see if has any of the smaller OD disc's 5.5". You'll need 2@5.5",2@6.5", 4 @ 1.250 wide bands, rivets included. Be sure to buy new springs from Agco when you reassemble.

My experience with aftermarket brake parts on those tractors is they are never good as the Allis parts were. Brakes have good paedal but poor brakes.

Has anyone ordered/seen/used Agco linings for this application?. I would like some feedback on the quality. I know way back when, AGCO CA hand clutch linings were absolute junk, showed them to my lining guy and he said throw them in Garbage can. I started buying from him from that point on. Remember, alot of linings are imported nowaday's, that's a topic fro another time in a different section!, Buy from people who have spent the life selling linings, they usually know what quality is and don't sell you junk at high prices.

I don't know the properties of kevlar, compared to the regular stuff.  I would prefer that my linings wear and not have my metal wearing as fast.

Kevlar is great stuff and lasts five times longer than the regular type facing material. We use it in many applications with great results. You can run it in oil applications,over-the-road trucks,brakes,etc.,etc.. However,we found out that it wasn't that great in race car apps though,with all the higher rpm's coming off the line and after a couple of races the stuff glazed over real bad and/or burnt the facing. Everything has its' place,but other than that,it's pretty good. It IS expensive though...maybe two-three times the cost of regular facing,but would depend on what you're using it for. I'm not trying to sell anything here at all,but I do know about the material itself. As for Tribco,I don't know how their material is made now,but several years back...well,lets just say we no longer use their Kevlar material. There are other suppliers of Kevlar though...you just have to shop around.  Rick

The original brakes on our 170 lasted over 6000 hours. We had a local shop rebuild with aftermarket linings and did not get 1000 hours out of them before they just disentegrated.  So i don't know if it was a problem with the install or the linings themselves.  I plan on rebuilding them myself this time, but not sure about the best one out there. As far as Kevlar goes. We replaced the brakes on my 210 with kevlar lined discs about 7-8 years ago 750hrs.  Have had great results.  I was curious as to the wear on the metal myself so I pulled one of the housing covers off and saw no abnormal wear to the metal.

When you use Kevlar there won't be any wear on the mating surface,period. That's why a lot of the over-the-road drivers prefer it...to save on costly flywheels and since there is hardly any wear when using Kevlar,that means less clutch adjustments as well.  Rick

Raycraft told me when we did the brakes on my 175, that if you do not set them up properly [ like the AC book say's] they would not last, Inferior facing material is out there no doubt, just have to know what is inferior and what is good. Obviously Rick knows, that's his expertise. I rely on others for the assessment, although I have seen the lousy material and can ID it.

Tracy,  I got my brake pads re-lined at Carolina Clutch, in Hickory, NC.  An older shop and family owned, wonderful people!
 
Can't find my notes....as usual, but I have included photo of the A & I brakes that Agco sent me.  They are not 6000 hr brakes...ha!   Next to the A & I stock brakes,  is photo of the 'woven' type brake pads they use, with metallic flakes.  Says it holds, even if old is leaked on it.  It is wider and cut longer..
 
They re-lined my brakes for $25.  I bought a set of his re-lined ones for another 170/175 for only $60.  I can give you his number if you want to call and mail yours to him.
 
Let me know what you think?

Tracy, they used a special glue, that had to be 'heat treated' for 4 hrs.  Says it will hold better than the rivets.   When I went to him, I left him mine and he glued the woven, dried and mailed them to me. 
Let me know if you want his number, to call and talk to them!  
So far my 175 with his brake linnings, stops really good.  I had to put in a bunch of shims to get it back to AC  standards.  thanx, Bruce
