One of my friends has one and he said it is his favorite Allis.
Parts may be hard to find for them though

I really like mine. Have had it for ten years. Starts nice in the cold weather and is nice to drive. As mentioned, parts can be a premium.

I have had trouble finding brakes. That's the only thing we ever needed for it, aside from a starter rebuild and a couple of batteries. Tractor belonged to my (used to be) next door neighbor. Good strong unit for light work. Plenty of power for it's size. Perkins diesel. Built in France by Renault for AC.

I didn't do it! It was a short, fat, tall, skinny guy that looked like me!

I own one that was built in France by Renault and parts for it is hard to find. My Dad bought it used and if I knew that parts for it would have been that hard to find I would have told him not to buy it. It has a Paris Rhome starter on it and you can not find parts for the starter. I think some of them had Delco starters and alternators on them and that is what I wish mine had on it.

Dream, I was able to get the brake disc from Agco, at least a few years ago anyway. Weren't cheap, but available. I also was told that the disc get a glaze on them. If you clean them off with emry paper, that will do wonders. That's what I did with the other set and they seem to work as well as the replacement ones, so you could try that. I'm not sure which alternator I have, but I did have it rebuilt by a local electrical/starter place around here with no problem, so that may be an option for you Charles.

I have a 160 with a 460 loader on it, have had it 3 or 4 years with no problems, best winter starting tractor on the place, use it all the time.

Our 1973 A/C 160 hasn't failed yet. Always starts. Why is this Perkins a
good winter starter, I don't know. I think the glow plug is a preheater in the intake tract. Big battery. I think Massey Ferguson used this engine in the 135? Even the original lights all work. Lost the stabilizer bars, using 1/2 baked chain setup. The 3 point is cat 2. Do other 40hp tractors have a cat 2? Fuel economy is very good. For being the "baby" tractor, it seems a bit of hike to get onboard. The hood is from the 170. Power front and rear width adjust. I have the invoice somewhere, $5200. I think that was a discount from list. But, the paint is faded now, it doesn't look new anymore. Eyes wandering towards the other orange things, Kubota.

Our 160 has been a great tractor also. Just like everyone else has already pointed out-great on fuel, easy to start cold, good acreage tractor for small jobs. I also used to have a 6040, pretty much the same thing only newer. Had great luck with it also.

I’m going to pick up a 460 loader tomorrow for my 160. Dealer isn’t sure they have a operator and parts manual for it. Anyone out there have any to sell? Also want to put a quick attachment hitch on it instead of a pin bucket. Any suggestions? The one I found for a 460 is pricey.
