My 8030 fwa currently pulls a 25' 1300 series Allis cultivator. What size of 1400 series cultivator should I be looking for (ideally with mounted levelers /drag)?

We pull a 25’ 1400 with an 8070 and here that’s as big as I would go. Sometime use the 7060 on it too and it pulls it

Have a 25' and a 30' 1400 cultivator. The 30' has a leveling bar and double rolling crumbler. I use it as a finishing cultivator. Pull it with a JD 7820 mfd or my AC 220 with a newer engine upgrade (190 hp pto) 20.8 x 38 radial duals and 1500 lb inside weights. It's real happy in 5th gear.

1400's come in 7.5" spacing or 9.0 " spacing. Know what you are buying !! 1300's are 6 inch space only.

The 1400 is considered a 4 row cultivator. Much heavier frame, shanks, and more clearance than a 1300. Double wheels on the center section. I pulled a 24.5' 1300 for 42 years.

My 25' 1400 is orange. The 30' is puke green. The smaller 1400 in orange are not very common. Built by Vermeer

Vermeer only built green ones as did they did discs, 385 planters, etc. I don't remember ever hauling anything orange out of Vermeer. Deutz had the $$$$$ to introduce the 385 planter, in 1985 so it wasn't orange. 1400 FC came out in 1982 before AC went broke.

Deutz-Fahr bought zero mfg facilities from A-C. Even the Independence, Missouri plant was leased from the Moorman Church, never owned or at least the land was never owned.

On our soils I think you would want a 20' or 22' . Your ground may be different.

A model 1200 AC field cultivator was the smallest and lightest weight of the different models. I think 21 feet width was the maximum. The 1300 went up to nearly 30 ft I think. The 1350 a little more weight and length. The 1400 was the top of the AC line. Everything is 6 inch shank spacing, except the 1400 which is 7 1/2" or 9" your choice.

Michael(WI), Great picture. Looks like the 1300 is doing a good job. Thanks for sharing. "What size of 1400 series cultivator should I be looking for (ideally with mounted levelers /drag)?" I don't see a mounted levelers/drag on your AC1300? If you add any of those items to a 1400, it's going increase load. The AC1400 was offered with double pointed spikes, 6", or 12" shovels in 21'-61' widths. I imagine the 8030's MFD helps distribute loads, but it has two-pinion rear differential & stock 115 dbr hp. Is it's 670T hp stock or adjusted? Either way, 670T's EGTs might climb if under too much load since it has no intercooler. A 21' 1400 weighs in @ 4345 lbs, with 4" shovels & levelers would be a load for an 8030? But then it depends on how wide of shovels, how deep it set, & how fast it's traveling....??? AC 1400's walking-beam suspension would be nice though.

![]() Got a 23' ish. Thankfully someone painted it orange over the spring green. We will find out shortly if the 8030 will pull it. Otherwise I might have to upgrade, shucks....

Your 8030 should have no problem pulling 23' of 1400 cultivator. D21 and 220 have no problem with my identical cultivator. Clay loam soil but not real deep. Just need a good seed bed. I posted a video of my 220 and 1400 on Facebook in the Allis Chalmers Tractors group.

The 25' 1300 is for sale. It has fairly new tires, fairly new sweeps, the rims have been blasted and painted and the spindles have been blasted, painted and new wheel bearings put in when they were rebuilt. I put on the sweeps I believe December of 2018, it was used on 24 acres (worked twice) in spring of 2019. It was used again on 24 acres (twice) the spring of 2020 and again spring of 2021. I got the 1400 series and used it this spring and that is the reason why I am selling it. I am asking for $1,500.00 for it. There is an operators manual and receipts available. I figured I would offer it to the AC folks first.

I would say it all depends on the depth you want to til, you shd have no problem at planting depth.

I used to pull a 21' 1200 series cultivator with mounted coil tine levelers with a FWA 6080 fwa with duals. Then I upgraded to the 8030 as my big tractor, I still have the 6080.
