B/C tractors are rated at 1500 rpms, by merely changing the external governor spring the CA goes to 1650 RPMs. This 1650 RPM rating is consistent on all the small D-series tractors with 138 & 149 engines up through the D14. OK so far, do these small D-series engines use the same spring as the CA? The early D-15s with the same 149 engine as the D-14 now is rated at 2000 RPMs; Is this just a different spring on the D-15 than the one on the D-14, or are their other changes? Of course the later 160 cid D-15s also turn 2000 RPMs; Do the 149 and 160 D-15s use the same governor spring? Bottom line...How do I get 1800-2000 RPMs out of my C's 125 cubic inch engine? I have put the D15 spring on CA, ,D12, D14. Need to be careful on the CA & possibly D10-D12 as I don't think they have a drilled crank ???? I only rand them wide open under light load or on road. Had a mark on throttle quadrant for correct speed after running/checking on dyno.

Find the springs that were used on 125 power units and you'll get 1900 RPM.
Drilled crank or not, the power unit on a combine ran at 1900 + RPM all day long.
I have a power unit on a CA, WOW does it move. Bob

D-15 spring/plunger will get you 2200 rpm high idle, no load.
