I just purchased a decent 1200 field cultivator.
I need to replace all 4 tires. The two on the main frame and the 2 on the gauge wheels. It has car tires on it now. Does anyone know what size tires came on this tool when used? Thanks

I had a 24 footer and it had 9.5L on it. They worked good so I assume they were the right size. ---all 4 matched and were implement rib style.

My 1973 AC 1200 Field Cultivator sales brochures says 14” wheels less tires?? So dealership supplied implement tires?
My 1981 AC 1200 FC brochure says gauge wheels as follows; “On the manual fold models, these wheels are light weight for easy folding. With the hydraulic fold, larger wheels are used to provide increased flotation on soft soils and positive depth control in hard, tough soils. An 8”x14” rim uses a 11”x14” flotation tire.” Guessing for a lightweight 4”-14” rim would use a 5.9”-14” tire. And maybe a 5”x14” rim would use a 7.5”-14” tire? A 6ply implement tire should suffice. What size are your car tire rims that were mounted your 1200? Edited by AC7060IL - 21 Apr 2020 at 6:02pm |

I don't know what size the car tires were. They were in such poor shape I had to measure the rim to know what diameter tires to get. These cultivators being shipped without tires explains why practically every cultivator that I have seen has car tires on it!

Back in the day implement dealers recycled alot of car tires putting them on implements, but I am sure as things got bigger, heavier and required special tires, and people had a few bad experiences with used car tires more stuff got sold with new implement tires.

![]() If your 1200 is like this one, I’d guess it’s got 15” rims. The older 15” pickup tire is shown in the photo’s upper right (FC’s left wing). But, it looks like either a 9.5L-15 or 11L-15 is on its left main frame? Edited by AC7060IL - 23 Apr 2020 at 10:07am |

I have a 1300 field cultivator. Just the main frame. Wings long gone before I acquired it. Anyway, I have 10.00-15SL 8 ply tires on it. I had to replace the ones on it when I acquired it, and as I recall these are a little larger, but don't recall the size of the old ones.

I'll have to look to be sure but I think my 18-1/2 foot 1200 has all 14"...... for sure the wings are 14" and they are hydraulic. We bought it in the mid 1980's and it wasn't very old then but it had car tires on it at the time.
