I recently started having issues with my black belly 7000 I use to bush hog with. The first symptom was when I first would start using the bush hog sometimes the pto would disengage when I would shift the powershift. This normally quit after I had worked it for a while. The last time I used it, that was much worse and I wasnt able to raise or lower the wings on the mower. I have plenty of the correct fluid in it (both compartments). It still steers fine. Where do I need to start? Its been a while, but I have adjusted the stand by pressure on the 7060 type tractors but this isn't the same system and im a little fuzzy on the routine anyway. Thanks in advance.

Black 7000 tractors sometimes have the long PTO lever fall into neutral. I always removed the spring inside the PTO valve and cut off one coil to weaken the spring. I'll bet your 1800 RPM red lite doesn't work, correct ??? Fix it. For diagnosing some of your complaints that red lite is needed. Black 7000's also blow a gasket in the PST valve and problems then arise when shifted into the over-drive position of the PST lever. Wing folding weakness must first be addressed by checking the remote outlets max pressure.....should be 2,200 to 2,300 PSI. Check with a 3,000 psi gauge plugged into an outlet coupler.

Thanks for the help. You were correct on the light. Apparently the wire got pulled off sometime... tested by grounding the wire and light came on. Can't verify the sender itself.
You are right on the long lever also, but never had issues with it until now. Started it up and with everything cold, the gauge on the remote showed 2100 or so at 1500 rpm. Didnt rev it up further to see top end and didnt have time to run it much today. The 1800 light did not come on when I engaged the pto, and the pto kicked off when I tried the power shift. The powershift made a grinding noise instead of shifting like it should have. The light didnt come on then either. Not sure what it means when the powershift shift was working fine when it was warm and I shut it down a few days ago but the remotes wouldnt work, and now with it cold im where im at. Thanks in advance. |

Well, it's two separate issues. Remote hydraulics power is one thing. PST/PTO is another. Need more info to diagnose. Take a wire and tie that PTO lever into engagement for now and see how things act when it gets up to operating temps.
