 Topic: Dennis and Allan Brabec interview

Some of you know who these brothers are. I have known them for 56 years. There is currently a 90 minute u-tube video done by "Breaking Barriers" where Gary Bontrager sits down and talks with the 7 time NTPA champions who pulled the "Country Dude" A-C One-Eighty pulling tractor, beginning in 1968. I first met them at the Jones County Fair in Monticello, Iowa in the summer of 1970 when the tractor had the homemade NF end and competed in the 5,000 lb class. I think if you google: Brabec Brothers/ 7x National Champions, The Country Dude & Tractor Pulling Legends-You Tube it will get you there. Enjoy a wonderfull piece of A-C pulling history by two really nice guys. Dennis is about 80 years old now and Allan a little younger.

Dr. thanks for the tip. Great interview and I'm only halfway through it. I'm not a big puller fan but there's a ton of early history. Thanks again-serious AC fans need to watch.

Yes. That is the correct link, thank you. When they sold it (1994-96 ??) a customer of mine bought it and my younger brother worked on it and kept him running for 2 maybe 3 seasons. So, when it was in our neighborhood, it had three turbos and consistently would make 135-140 psi of boost. It was at the peak of its performance level at that time.

Really enjoyed listening to the Brabec brothers reminiscing. As a kid, I remember the older pulls where track guys stood in their respective area ready to “step on” the oncoming pulling sled.
Just a few years ago, I had the privilege to visited with Noble D Harrison II, CPA in Pittsfield, IL about he & his Dad’s (Noble Sr) D21 & 220 pulling tractors. He explained that his Dad had a “National dealership for AC factory pulling Circuits.” (setups/parts/service). My notes from that conversation; One particular memory he shared was how they lengthened/ installed a 16” then a 14” Torque Convertor & ran 7th gear in his twin turbo 1970 AC 220. He commented that after he completed pulls, most every sled operators commented to him about how his pull was the smoothest of any.
For a pic of him on his Dad’s D21, look on page 101 upper right corner of Norm Swinford’s Farm Equipment 1914-1985 book. It’s the one decorated in trophies.
Said that one year they placed 2nd at Louisville, KY where they were beat by 1st place winner, Charles DeClerk(nickname Corncob) Stonington, IL pulling his tractor equipped with a WWII P51 Allison engine.

I bought my first set of tractor pulling injector tips from Harrison Implement in 1977. They were four hole .020" tips with a p/n EX----- stamped on them.
