I need a little more than a IT manual for my 81 7060 PS. I see used thick orignal AC shop manuals but have dates of 1977 making them red belly, not exactly what fits.
I have a wobbly water pump to change with hoses and a thermostats on the shelf. Course the PO twisted one of the 5/16 housing bolt heads off and has a conglomeratation of lock washers stacked on different types of bolts in the other five holes and my cab door has a crack needing welded to firm up the door and I need to align the hood top to the front grill but all that looks straight forward. Iam going to need the step by step on adjusting in the Power Shift levers and pedal. If you dont do everything like it likes it it can be a little firm with the levers. If going up any incline and you want to pull it into park after your out of 1 2 3 4 5 6 it can be a bear. What manual covers a late model? |

Search for a 7045 manual. With cold transmission oil (under 150 degrees let's say) you will always fight getting the HI/LOW range lever out of gear to go into neutral and then to Park. Especially getting out of LOW range is the worst. That is because you have cold oil drag on the clutch packs. You can adjust everything you want to perfection and still not overcome cold transmission oil drag. The proper technique (like shifting a semi tractor transmission) is one of two things: #1. before the tractor quits rolling, pop it into neutral before coming to a halt. or #2. if you missed that opportunity, shift the PST lever into reverse and while applying some neutral bound pressure on the RANGE lever, lightly let up on the inching pedal to remove the cold clutch pressure. The range lever will pop right into neutral. Having the engine anything above a slow idle just makes the problem worse, so IDLE it. Some people can't shift a semi-tractor well. Some seem to have difficulty mastering this. It's the way they are. Nothing wrong with the tractor, unless I'm misunderstanding the complaint. This advice isn't written down anywhere by A-C.
