That's about the way to start a WD45 diesel in cold weather,the 230 Buda starting instructions says to unscrew the knob on the intake and hold a propane torch to it so the heat goes in the manifold while  its cranking.If its really cold you're going to need a tow.
Fiats have an igniter in the intake and when the preheater is is hit it runs some fuel in the intake and ignites it.When you hear it ignite it'll fire right up.
