? on 80 series plow

   Were these designed for a D19? reading owners manual and has some hydraulic adjustment shown for D19 but nothing else, thought the were usable with any snap coupler tractor with enough power to pull 4 bottoms, thanks

	From my studying of the parts book (available on line now at: http://www.grandpastractor.com/phpBB3/index.php with others) it appears that the basic plow frame, whether 50, 60, 70, or 80 and may 9000 could be accompanied by a snap coupler hitch, a three point hitch, a semi mounted hitch for the larger frames, and a pull behind hitch. Basically there were no serious differences between the 60, 70, and 80 families and probably not the 50 though I don't have parts details on the 50. I gather the model 50 plow frames were fixed width and had vertical fixed shanks where the plow bottoms mounted. The 60s were fixed width and had slanting plow shanks, generally fixed, or shear bolt mounting. Though the parts book shows a spring trip shank it says for the 60 or 80 plow. The 70s were adjustable width (a bit more hardware and steel in the cross bars) with fixed shanks. The 80s were adjustable width and came with spring trip shanks. So practically for every 80 plow with hitch, there could have been a 60 or 70 that would be the same without the spring trip shanks. The plow frame strength varied with the number of bottoms, not the family. The AC plow frame family is very modular and most all AC plow bottoms fit most all the plow frames of the matching size. And the bolt pattern for the plow shank was the same for fixed or spring trip so that one could order the spring trip assemblies and convert a model 70 to a model 80 in function. One could convert a model 60 to the plowing function of a model 80 with the spring trip shanks but wouldn't have the adjustable plow width feature. I suspect the adjustable width feature was used more at dealers to have a reduced inventory for the two widths than on the farm though I know some times in my field going narrower some years would have sped up plowing. 	Specific to the D-19? No. My 70 series semi mounted manual is heavy with D-19 info also but that plow along with yours was heavily used with the D-17 tractor in areas where a 17 would pull it including here. With the exception of the CA I am pretty sure that the snap coupler impement specs were the same as for hitching points? I am not a literature fanatic but I think that A-C put out some manuals that appliied to certain implement/tractor combos while other literature is genaric as to the tractor. At the very least the manuals would be heavy with info on combos that reqwuired the most changes for them to work together.

	Still not sure but I thought with the steerable tail wheel made a difference,just trying to find out, may want to try to sell it if I know all the info on it.

	The steerable tail wheel is part of the semi mount hitch option most often on 4 bottom and larger plows. Gerald J.
