D14 Muffler

   While changing the oil in my D14 over the weekend I noticed there is a large gap between the muffler and exhaust manifold. I looked through the AGCO parts book to see if there was something missing, but it looks like it is just the way that the aftermarket muffler is made. A bit of time looking let me find what is called a restoration quality muffler, and they look like they mount and are shaped the same as the original. I intend to eventually get the higher quality muffler, but would like to know if there is much difference in the sound, and how well they fill the outlet of the manifold.
