Getting a hammermill...
The thing is painted red and the owner says he can make out the begining of "McCormick" However, if you look at the picture of this housing it looks like a Deere 10A..its a two piece stamping. The McCormicks I have seen have a three piece arrangement - 2 sides and a middle with long bolts holding it all together. The cyclone that comes with it has an extra tall stack, and thats what I seen on a deere, but not a McCormick... Any thoughts? ![]() On edit did some more diggin, might be this one it has a similar housing... ![]() Edited by TomYaz - 17 Nov 2022 at 2:06pm |

We used a WD45 to run the hammer mill. Belt driven model. I think it was a New Idea but I can't remember for sure. It sure made the tractor work. I could keep it full with a 5 gallon pail but you had to hustle. Brother and I could do about 50 bags an hour at the most. Good memories.

Must have been a large hammermill.
These units when powered by electric only need a 3 HP motor.

Looked similar to your pic of the McCormick but can't remember how wide it was. Ran the tractor almost full throttle and would sometimes turn muffler red. That tractor did a lot of work off the belt pulley.

Anxious to get my paws on it to get to the bottom of it. Not for another week or so.

I'm pretty sure that's a Case hammermill. I've got one I use occasionally just like it. Not sure what size yours is, but mine is a 10 inch. I run mine with a WC. You can grind a lot of grain in a short amount of time, but hay is a different story. I grind enough feed for 3 or 4 meat steers every winter and a bit of grain for pig feed in the summer. I've got a manual for mine I could probably copy of you'd like a manual.
