Easier to buy and ask for forgiveness than to explain why you need it.

Cept this one isn’t local. We’d have to take a little trip to get it.

years ago...like back in the '70's, there were a couple dudes here that would transplant GM 454's into new ferd pickups for people. the people liked the ferd pickups, but disliked the nonpower plants and had this done to their trucks. the dudes were kept busy for years doing that.

Well,,I do agree with your assessment of the 70's Ford trks being the nicest looking trks back then especially the short bed ones with what ole Thad calls the "Race track Trim" ,,,lifted at least 12" with some chromies and big knobby ta'ars,,,,,Clap The only'ist thing better would of been a big block Chevy engine,,,whoeeee,,,get out the way,,,!!!!Clap
I been tryin to talk an old boy down the road to sell me one just like that,,was a pretty  red from the factory,,but the engine is a little sick and he ain't got no money to repair it,,,,,Clap It gonna need some body work and new paint,,,but that ain't no biggy for ole Joe,,,,Chit,,my trusty brick and claw hammer and I be ready,,,,!!
AND,,I gots the engine thing all figured out as ole Shameless ain't wantin to bite on me stabbin thet 427 into his Jeep so,,,,,,Ya get the picture,,????ClapClap  Maybe if thet owner finds some sugar in his good car,,,he be needin some shade tree work and ,,,,,,and,,,I can get iownership of thet Ford trk,,,,,,,,,ole Shameless will be SOOoo proud of me,,,,,Clap

The Best built truck is the Ford and the worst built truck is the Dodge. The vn4500 is the toughest and adaptable standard trans. People do this quite often.
The 5.9 came factory from a Ford school bus.
There are lots of 6.0 power strokes converted.

Also back in the 70’s there was a guy here with a Ford 1/2 ton and true 390 that would eat chebbies with a 454 and converted diesels with a 455. He got 14 mpg to go along with it.

Yep. My boss in College had a '76 F350 with the last of the 390's. 750 double pumper man would that thing run. Those anemic early 80's 454's couldn't touch it.
