OK, another question. When my parts manual gets here it would probably have the answer, but it isn't due to arrive until August 15th. So much for snail mail.

After using the tractor for a few hours the hydraulic pump started acting like it was cavitating. The fluid level was full so I suspected a filter issue. I removed the filters and the pickup screen, and in doing so I'm not sure if the caps that hold them in place were in the correct place. Indecently the screen is clean and I didn't cut the filters open to see what condition they are in.
The operators manual cautions to make sure the caps are not swapped from side to side. It instructs the RH cap must be installed so the 'slot' will be opposite the ports in the diff housing. The innards of the cap I removed from the RH side does not have a slot in it, however the cap on the left side has a 1/8" space between the two ends of what appears to be a retainer. Could this be what Allis Chalmers refers to as a 'slot'?
I tried the caps on opposite sides and found they will fit, but I sure don't want to install them incorrectly.
'til later
Dave
