I recently had my clutch rebuilt for my One-Sixty and I have a question about the shims. My tractor is a an "early" model which the service manual indicates should have 3 shims between the stop plate and the crown ring (marked as Position 1 in the photo below). This should total 18 shims to cover the 6 bolts. The clutch came with six shims and paperwork that states the following: "Flywheel Step = 0.175" "0.060 shim must be installed between flywheel and pressure plate cover" I think "between the flywheel and pressure plate cover" describes Position 2 in the photo. My question is do I need to put the shims in Position 1, Position 2, or Both. I'm going to call the company that did the clutch and see what they have to say also. | |

Question answered.  The paper that came with the clutch should have had a diagram on it with a very helpful picture indicating the shims are intended to go in the same location as described in the service manual.  The company directed me to a digital version of the instruction sheet that included the helpful picture. Yes...it should have (3) shims between the cover assembly and the flywheel as the manual indicates for proper release. Rick
