85 Gleaner N5 header won't lower.

   As the title says my header won't lower, it raises fine, fluid level is fine, where should I start looking for the problem at? Thanks.

	Possibly oil pressure sending unit. It won't lower if it doesn't sense pressure. Should have 2, try swapping them if gauge works.

	Actually,there are three engine oil pressure sending units. One is larger than the other two and has a single wire on it. That one operates the gauge. One of the small ones also has a single wire and it is for the red idiot light. The other small one has two terminals and the wires are yellow with a black or red stripe, can't remember the color of the stripe for sure. If you suspect that switch,just hook the wires together and then try it. You could also switch the raise and lower wires at the valve stack and see if it will then lower by pushing the raise side of the switch in the cab. If it still won't lower when you have 12 volts at the lower solenoid coil,you could have a bad coil or a hydraulic problem. Good coils when energized, magnetize the end where the nut holds it on. A small screwdriver or knife blade will tell if it's magnetized. It also has to ground through the gold colored canister. Switching the raise and lower coils is another test you can try . I hope that the ram stop is up isn't it?

	First thing to check is with a test light, check for current to lower solenoid while some one is in cab with motor running. If no current, follow wire up to oil pressure safety switch. If no current there go to lower switch in cab. Have saw seat mogul go bad. Have also saw header control mogul cause header not to lower. MACK

	since it raised, swap the raise and lower wires on the coil and pull of the master valve wire , then hit it raise button - if it lowers you have a electrical issue, if not you have hydraulic or mechanical issue.

	Well thanks for the help guys, the problem was the oil pressure safety switch wires run underneath the oil pan and had been chewed in half! Butt connected it back and all is well.

	Wow, I would've never thought that. This just solidifies I can fix the mechanicals on these combines, but when you mention electronics, I get totally lost.
