Can anyone tell me about this trunk? Fred do you have one of these? I am posting a link to an article written by the guy that used it. You have to scroll down a bit but you can see his picture, its also a pretty good article on other things Allis Chalmers built. The metal tool box looking thing sits inside the trunk.

Were they made by Allis Chalmers, for Allis Chalmers or what? And they guy I bought it from thought it was a tool box for like a mechanic but I wouldnt think a mechanic could carry it loaded with tools. I thought maybe a salesman sample case. Maybe with it having R.S. Dominick on the side it was a engineers box......any thoughts

I would guess it is a case that Allis bought. The name plate is to show the contents belonged to Allis.. Could have been full of turbine/ pump tools for a job / installation... Probably moved by 2 guys or a small fork truck or cart.

Yeah I read that, I pasted a link at the bottom of my first post to that article. For those of you that want to read a good article on Allis history read it, that turbine that Allis built was quite incredible, it acted as a generator turbine one way, but then it could be used to pump water the opposite direction and put water back in the lake!

For those that don't know, this brass tag is the same one that was used on early AC tractors. 20-35's up through '27 used them for there serial number tag on the dash, '28 and after the serial number was stamped on top of the transmission in front of the shifter. So most likely this trunk would be dated before '27, unless the factory had a bunch of left over tags they used in later years? Just thought I'd throw that info out there.
