Is there an easy way to convert the combine to take the 500 series head and run the reel with the combine hydraulics or is the only good way to do it is convert the head by adding the hydraulic pump system to the head? It's a 1989 tan cab R50. Also looking at a later 320 too.

The best way is to take the pump off of an old head and can easily be adapted to the late 300/500 heads. we have done several over the years.

DO THE 500, far ahead of the 300 series. The only tricky part is using a dual pole dual throw cross wired switch to speed up and slow down reel. Just like electric threader on a round hay baler...
