Just for fun which tractor do you think AGCO should bring back (we can dream). New Holland's 8N don't look a lot like the old 8N but it is a start on the concept of throwback tractors. I think it would be cool to make an AGCO WD45 with all the bells and whistles because Allis-Chalmers focused on the small and medium sized farms in their early years and because it would be nice to bring the symbol of AC into the 21st century.

AllisChalmers37:  Can we make this a plural request, if so, I would like to see an updated B because of their success and simplicity.
 
Then I would like to see a D15 Series III, with a diesel and 4 wheel drive,  but to tell you the truth any new Allis Chalmers,  produced in America and supported for the next 100 years would get my cash for a new purchase. 
 
I wish the US manufacturer's would have maintained their dominance in the tractor industry like we did in the 30's, 40's, 50's and 60's.  Why did we give it all away?

A new B with FWA with a whole line of attatchments like belly mower, loader, maybe even a backhoe similar to what Kubota makes.

I'd vote for a design based on the looks of the D series, something around the D15 - D17 size.
 
Does anyone know if the "new" 8N has much sales success? It would be in competition Kubota and other compacts. I've often wondered if Fiat/CNH was serious about selling them or if it's just a markrting gimmick.
 
Isn't the trendy word "retro" instead of throwback? LOL

i agree with the wd 45. they should realy do that.
wd with a freeman model 90 trip loader, wd45, 38 unstylled wc, b 10 garden tractor and 2-14 ac trip plow. grandpa has a 56 wd45. wd. allis chalmers snap coupler blade and 3 bottom snap coupler plow

As much as I would love an updated modern version of the WD45, from a marketing standpoint the D15/D17 would be the most do-able and would have the widest appeal even to non orange fans.

I dont think he meant what Frankentractor made from old parts.  Were talking a TOTALLY new tractor that only shares a model designation.  Hence the picture in his post. 

For me a new D21 would be it.  Those things look mean, I could only hope they would keep it thay way.  Front wheel assist with big power.

Id say a D series would be good, but I think a 100 series would be better.  Why not a 190 or a 170 with front wheel assist and a cvt?

Remember the full Ag-history has changed from small self sufficient Family farms of 80 to 160 Acres to the large Corporate farm base or many sections under management by few people. The move from 10 to 40 head milk producers to 100 or 1000 head mega-producers.
 The tractor lines have also evolved from the unit to replace the team to units which now do the work of 20 of 50 tractors would do in 1930.
 The sales of tractors changed from under 70 HP being relegated to foreign companies and being replaced by the small garden tractor industry in mowers , tillers, and such for small home or hobby use. Here the lawn and garden suppliers have taken the market over from the old AC B or C tractors or other such companies products.
 Just like in the construction end of industry, the skid loader has replaced the track loader like the HD5G. and now the Excavator has replaced those machines also in doing demolition, loading and even digging foundations. Mini-excavators are now common as are the mid-size units. drag lines and crane type work is now done by excavators.
 Those 20 to 50 HP units built outside the US have wide use throughout the world as the US has moved from agricultural society to strictly consumers not producers.

Yeah, kinda what Coke said. I would say they could have some success with compact tractors. Maybe call them a B series. B would most-likely look similar to the "Boomer" 8N from NH if it were to come out today. Not even sure if it would sell. Like Coke said, Skid-steer/ compact track machines have almost taken the place of mid-size track loaders, as well as compact/midsize tractors. There are enough attachments for those things that they will perform any job you could do with a tractor, small track loader, and a backhoe, but you only need to buy one machine. Attachments are easy to hook up/unhook(no stupid 3 point hitch anymore,just reach out the door, pull up the two levers, disconnect hoses, tilt out of one attachment, and you're ready to tilt into another. Takes less than 5 minutes, and a lot of these things have heated/air conditioned cabs now. No more eating dust/getting poked in the eye by limbs.
 
But if we're dreaming, yeah, a retro B or WD-45 would be cool.
 
 OOH, what about a ZTR G? That would be a neat little machine. Rear engine, multiple attachments, live hydraulics and PTO, and little swivel caster wheels up front. Somebody draw that up. I can almost see it in my mind. I bet that would actually sell. Have a 6-way mid-mount blade, tiller, mowing deck, etc. Landscapers, lawncare contractors, and homeowners would go for it I bet.

Go after both the small and hobby farmers with  a new B and a D15   and  a real efficient,reliable,easy to service, ground shaker  for the mega farmers and scraper pullers. All in orange ,of course.
  One of guys I work with bought one the new 8N with a loader. He's been known to be a practical guy who buys  and rebuilds older equipment to work his small farm and pastures . But he chose the 8N over JD and Kubota mainly because of its looks.
1949 B   3930 Ford- Have owned other Orange ,green,red,yellow,dark green tractors and equipment.

The New Holland 8N is aimed at the suburban and rural Kubota buyer that started out buying 8N's and the like. I don't think AGCO is really interested in developing market loyalty this way because there are already cheap Indian knockoffs of little Massies that used to be sold here in the 80's. I don't think anyone is busting the doors in to buy one.
 
They sure aren't worried about loyalties of previous orange owners.
 
As for someone resurrecting the AC name like McCormic did, it would be an uphill battle. I doubt anything they would develope would look like an Allis other than the color. And even if they came up with a good design it would be hard to sell as a short line company.

When you look at how many small tractors are selling world wide, there has got to be a market for a B - CA size tractor, actually probably more like a D12.  It would have to have the bells and whistles like everyone else has (hydro trans, live pto & hydraulics, power steering, etc. etc. and of course diesel.  However several years ago a friend who wheeled and dealed with small tractors suggested that if someone came out with a small tractor with a FI, turbo'ed gasoline engine, they would sell well as a lot of people just don't want to deal with hard starting diesel engines in the winter and they don't like to have to get a can of diesel and figure out how (or call the dealer for help) when they run the machine out of fuel.  One thing I'm pretty certain is that there would be very little demand for a B style tractor except for collectors, (who are usually too cheap to buy a new tractor), Few people want to climb onto a B any more then they would a Farmall A or Cub.  I do think Dream is onto something with the ZTR G idea, something with a 25 hp gas engine with a diesel option, taller tires then garden tractors for clearance and live power for a mid mount mower.  Make it easy to switch to a cultivator, planter unit, blade, etc.  Also have a 3 point on the back for a rototiller or snow blower.  Lots of good ideas on this forum, all it takes is money to make it happen!

A bit more; I have yet to see a new 8N in someone's yard around here.  I think they are overpriced, $30,000 plus for a tractor that is the same machine under the skin as a low 20's JD, MF or Kubota. 
Another thought, most all farms, from 10 acres to 10,000+ have a small tractor to mow the lawn, plow the sidewalks and do all those other jobs that a 200 HP tractor can't.  There is a huge market for small tractors, but they have to have great quality and be a good value to the user.  That's why Kubota sells so many tractors in the world.

I grew up leaning on a M and Super MTA on my uncle's farm. My Dad had and 8N when he retired. Now I bought my uncle's neighbor's D-14. I would have to vote Orange in the D series.

D12 and a 6080 heck if they could come back out with fresh supply of 6080's they would be sweet no changes need just fresh new ones with 0 hrs.
