this is my Orchard B setting on blocks to paint. I made the straight front axle from two bars 5/8 inch thick and about 3 inches tall... welded side by side. Spindle ends are just pipe welded to the axle. Spindles are from original wishbone. I needed some kind of plate to bolt to the final drive to hold the foot pedal shaft and mount the fenders.. Ended up cutting out a 5/16 inch steel plate into a triangle pattern. Originally had drawbar, then removed and installed the mower.

the steering column is the original B angle, but the shaft was shortened maybe 6-7 inches to get clearance between the wheel and operator seat.

Steve I like your low B with a 72" mower.
I built a low B and put a 60" Woods under it. I drove the mower off the belt pulley shaft. Hubnut, I sure like those Carlisle tires, can you measure the inflated diameter for me? I had a pair of Good year 9.5 x 24 turf tires but didn't like them due to they lowered the back of the tractor a little and I can't raise the mower any more. The Carlisle looks like it might work. |

Steve I feel like I hijacked your thread with my question I hope you don't mind too much. I think the tire measurement he is looking for is from the ground to the top of the tire. That will tell how much clearance he will have under the tractor for his mower.

Hubnut, very nice work, and an incredible amount of work to get done in less than 1 month!

Hubnut go to your local parts store and get a little tool they call a run razor. I's a small block that has a razor blade in it (the ones I've seen) that slides along and just peels off the run. Then you can compound out the marks. Eastwood has them if you can't find one locally.

Thanks Bill. Glad you like the pics. I like your favorite too. They are becoming my favorite too. I've essentially finished this tractor. I need to add some wiring, but I'm in no hurry. She hand cranks easily. My first run with the mower blew grease all over the center sheave. I over did it with the grease. Doh! I also tried a line up, but I need more property to properly do that

Steve, your fleet is awesome and growing! I love those Carlisel tires on the mowing B, but looks like they may interfere with the fenders on my low B, I will have to do some more checking.

Thanks Bill. I put the trio in the garage and moved my lone CA with SFW to the pole barn. I may sell that one for another B or C. I know the CA is superior in numerous ways, but I really like the Bs and Cs.

That grease looks good to me much rather see it all over the place then none at all. I figure you can never have too much grease. Looking good I like the three different paint jobs all together they look cool in a photo. You will just have to find a show to take them to then you will have space to line them up nice....

Look for something run down in an estate sale. There are deals out there. Of course you will have a much longer list of projects if the land is run down....
