New years eve, about midnight, son lets the dogs out, comes back in and says, your truck is running, all lit up, including trailer lights! Now, it is a second hand, 2005 f250. It has an aftermarket remote start, but I have never used it, the fob is in my desk drawer. I know the code can be copied when one uses the remote start feature, and then used to steal the vehicle.....but I never use the remote start.
I am at a loss to explain it.
I am still confident of this;
I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

Many years ago as kids we would go riding around in the high class neighborhoods and open garage doors with the CB. You just had to get lucky and find what channel to use. After finding the right channel for an address we had a blast LOL Someone just got lucky with your code Thumbs Down Next time your truck may not be sitting in you driveway running Angry Remove it now before that happens
If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits.
If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

In any case, as you suggested, as soon as I can figure out how, I intend to disable that system

You 'should' be able to simply unplug the 'box' from the wiring harness..once you find it ! Might be inside the driver's kickpanel or tierapped under the dash.

Dont just YANK the box out as some of the wires may not just be tied INTO your truck wires... the original wire might be CUT and the box spliced in as a switch.. I had one and i cut a couple wires at a time and tried to start the truck with the key after each cut... Eventually found a wire that STOPPED the truck from starting... Found another wire to the box with SAME COLOR that needed to be connected together after the box wires were cut off.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Which truck ,gas ? should be able to find wiring for it ?
Which remote starter unit, again, can find install papers.
A truck that new , I suspect has a prewired connector for 'remote starter', especially if that was an option. Wife's 99 CRV was prewired/connectered for remst. 19 quashqi is.
Removing the remstarter box from truck wiring will quickly tell the story. NO damage can be done, providing ignition is not on.

A couple of years ago a friends 20 ft overhead door to the shop was open when they woke upon a bitter cold and windy morning. They had some freeze damage to pressure washer and some pipes. They figure an airplane or something opened it as they live away from the road, They disabled the remote opener and only use the switches by the door so it wont happen again.

I appreciate all the suggestions. It's a 2005, w/aftermarket remote. no paperwork for it with truck. I do know what dealer sold the truck. I was going to see if they could advise. That failing, I will get the diagram and go from there.

Should shut itself off after 15 minutes.  No one should be able to drive it.  It's connected to the brake pedal and should shut off as soon as someone steps on the brake.  If you check the fuse box, you should be able to see any wires that were added, Just pull the wire off, or look for stray wires with a fuse in the wire and pull the fuse.  You'll need the FOB to try to start it whenever you disconnect something.

Could be the batteries in the remote need to be replaced?
I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

Good luck Lou, I ran a '95 Dodge Ram with an aftermarket "keyless" start Confused. I never used it (used truck) and towards the end of the life of the truck, I had to unhook the battery AFTER parking and turning off the key switch only to have the starter engage and the power windows/locks jump up and down multiple times and found out there were multiple sources of power for the module Unhappy
