Have the oppertunity to purchase a big L crawler, always been inside and still is, uc is still atleast 85% if not better, has a hyd baket blade on it and a bolt on hardnose, really is in great shape doesnt run currently but it does turn over, and I am sure wouldnt take too much as they parked it years ago in a dry shed, of course it is a gas with 2 carbs and it is a big engine, what would this be worth and what would it weigh, Thanks, dustin and what years were they made

The L was built from 1931 to 1942. The early ones (1931-1935) had steering wheels. Weight is 22000-23000 pounds. 3357 were made. No idea on the price.

Well, there is probably not a big market for something that big.... It is a shame, because they seem to be pretty scarce as far as seeing them about. Probably something to do with their size. Just because something is scarce, doesn't always translate to a big market or a big price. The NOS IB pintle hitches I got are a good example... Only a couple people felt they really wanted one, (at more than scrap price). Probably worth $2500 or less if you were selling it by the hundred weight at the yard.

It doesnt have a steering wheel just clutch levers? I guess and I didnt figure it was rare just wanted to use it and didnt want to pay too much

i bet there are not very many around, would be a neat piece. it was the largest crawler before the introduction of the HD series with detroit engines. if it was an LO it would be worth more i would think.

the story that goes with it is that the county I am from bought it new and used it to pull a grader to maintain the roads but I dont know if they bought it with the baker blade or not

I am not a dozer guy, but it sounds like you could have an opportunitiy for interesting hoby and a chance to save history. If the mechanical aspects are solid, it is probably something really interesting to work on. I doubt if it will ever be a money making project, but turning a buck doesnt drive me when I look at older equiptment. You would likely have the only one at any show, and as a result be a reall show stopper.

I have a L with the baker blade. the blade will add 6000 lb. or more to 22000 - 23000 tractor. they sound very nice with double exhaust with 844 cu.in. engine.
