Good Morning,
I recently acquired an Allis Chalmers FP40 from an auction. Start, runs, stops and drives as it should. It is currently set up to operate on propane. I don't have much for experience with this forklift. It has a 4 cylinder engine. I have not yet touched anything as far as maintenance goes.
My Question: It seems a bit underpowered when off-road. It has a tough time making it up inclines, especially with a load. Is this normal? Is there anything maintenance wise I need to address? Or is this just how the machines are in general?
Thank You

2 thoughts, 1 give it a compression check. 2 propane carbs have some weird stuff on them, that is to sense atmospheric pressure. There are holes that are supposed to be open, that the hole spiders love to fill with an egg and some prey that the egg feeds on, then they seal up the hole with mud dauber like cement. check to see if you have any holes that look like a mud dauber filled them...
