 Topic: Ok tell me why I should buy a B?

I need something for my garden (its a LARGE garden) and Im either guna get a Farmall super A or a Allis Chalmers B. Tell me what I should get (and dont be one sided). It would be used for cultivating and plowing and disking. How hard is it to get implements for the B? I like low prices. I dont really like the offset on the farmall but it would be good for seeing the plants. So how do they stand up to each other?

Most likely the B will outwork the super A hands down, they are gutsy little tractors, and implements shouldn't be extremely hard to find for it. You should have no trouble seeing the plants on the B either because the torque tube is quite narrow.

Get the AC B and don't look back...
I own an AC-B and used to own a Farmall A.
Get a 3pt conversion from your favorite AllisChalmers.com supporting Vendor and you will be in busines.
I had a short video of me pulling a dearborn 2 bottom 3 pt plow with my B in 2nd gear and no weights but somehow it got deleted. I do have 14.9-24 tires, other than that nothing special on my B. I will have to do it again someday.
To add to what HagerAC said, with the wide seat on the B you can slide to one side or the other to see the crop better. That isn't an option with the A, With the A you could see one side really good, but nothing of the other side.

good luck on finding impliments for an allis B, I live in Minerva ohio and i cant find anything for mine, they must have all gone to China, so they just sit in the garage watching my Cubs do all the work.

As you know I would definitely look at the B. From what I have heard prices are better, parts are available. Implements I cannot tell you.
You will find them a very dependable tractor.

Last yr I sold all my FCubs. I already had 1 CA. In various states I now have 6 CAs. Implements aren't quite as easy as the Cub but not impossible. I have the plow, disc, 3 sets of Culitvators, sides dresser, rear planter, and side planter. I plan on working up a 3 acre garden. I've owned as many Cubs in the past and by far enjoy the Allis more. The B or C can be pretty cheap to buy and is 3xs the Cub and pretty close to the A in size and power. However I give the edge to Allis in power and sturdiness in that class of tractor.

The Allis is the better tractor for plowing, discing and general usage. However when it comes to cultivating, the Super A farmall is hard to beat. The feather touch controls, ability to raise the fronts and just use the rear to run the middles. Dad liked Allis but we cultivated two plus acres with a Super A. He could get to the end of the rows, raise the fronts and then raise the rear after a couple of second to finish out the row and not leave any tracks in the middles. If I could only have one, it would be the Allis, if I could dedicate one to cultivating it would be the Farmall.

The most common implements for the Allis B seem to be single bottom two way plows, sickle bar mowers and cultivators. It seems like these are often advertised for sale very reasonably. If you keep ypur ear to the ground in your area,I'd bet that you would find everyting you need very reasonably. Seems lke the mounted cultivators are sold for $100 or less, plows in that price range and mowers for $100 - 200. I am very partial to the B and have no experience with the Super A. You would spend a bunch of money to add three point to a B and then would need 3 point implements. If money is a big part of the decision, a B with original mounted implements should be a very affordable option.

I have a left and right plow and culivator I'd let go. They both need a little work but should be of good service to you.
