Joe, we've got it this morning too. That freezing rain is nasty to drive on. We're supposed to have sleet or freezing rain here until around lunch and then rain. That makes two times this year with accumulation. It had been years since our last accumulation of snow or sleet before last year. Now we're at two years in a row and two times in a year.
Think for yourself and be your own expert. Be willing to change your mind; however, willingness to change your mind doesn’t mean that you will. Blindly following any path is the pinnacle of insanity.

We got 2-3 inches in Memphis but just south of here it was the same as you.  Made it to work just fine but was before any of the idiots got on the road.

On down here we got ice popping limbs across the yard. Sounds like kids in a cap gun war. A good coating of ice on everything and power lines are getting heavy, the lights are flickering. More of a slushy frozen mess on the ground.

Joe; Hang on, the county road grader just went by; with a county red pickup behind. And sheriff car behind that; normal practice in this part of the world where people drive tooo fast for conditions. Snows are normally short-lived in this area, but I expect we may have some snow still around tnis weekend (based on forecast low temperatures and Friday being the only sunny day). Might spend the day planning trip to FL G.O.O.. Herb

Joe. light sleet and rain down here in the south end of Jackson County. We got about 6 inches of snow. So far I have not had to get out on the roads.

Breeze, keep that freezing rain down your way. I don't mind the snow but freezing rain makes everything too slick. Sorry to hear your back is giving you trouble. Stay out of that stick hauler and take it easy until it gets better.
Just an old country boy saved by the grace of God.

Well Joe, it's 95 degrees here in Rio de Janeiro.

We were about 3 hours late taking off from Atlanta last night.  We finally got through the de-icing line in Atlanta and took off before our "hold-over" time expired (how long the de-icing will last based on temperature, type of snow/ice pellets/freezing fog/etc., amount of snow/ice pellet/freezing fog/etc., type of de-icing fluid).  The IRS & the FAA got together and traded their best ideas for complex paperwork to come up with that table.  I think the only reason we were able to leave is the snow/ice pellets/freezing fog/etc. let up around midnight and the airport was able to catch up with mother nature for a little while.  I suspect it started up again after we departed.

Quite a contrast between Atlanta and Rio today.  Thought about posting a picture of the bikini-clad ladies on the beach here but I didn't think I should rub salt in your wounds.

Joe, you might want to invest in a snow blade for one of your G's. You could be the first one on your block to plow out. With global warming you might be able to use it a couple times every year.
Scott, rub all the salt you want.

Scott thanks, but dont count on the freezer being off when you get here. It has within the last hour or so finally gotten up to 34+ degrees. Thats the warmest in a couple o days. The outlook for the rest of the week is only mid 40 thru Saturday I think and then not sure after that. I though I heard on the radio this morning that is would be a waste of time to expect very much warmth after this one so it looks like there another bout after this one. Hope you had a blast.

Don't worry about closing the door for another 24 hours.  We had a mechanical that caused the flight to cancel last night.

...then, in a cab on the way to the hotel, we had a true adventure that I will try to post a video of after I get home on Thursday.  We encountered a flash flood.  Of all the "situations" I've had in my life, this may rank in the top 10.  Top 10 may not sound that impressive but thanks to my naval aviation background I may have had a few more "situations" than the average guy.  OK, this was probably the #1 situation where I was a passenger in a car.

Safe in the hotel now about 6 hours after leaving the airport.
