How to utilize scourkleen

   Neighbor and i dragged a 60 combine out of a collapsed barn. Had not been used in about 40 years. He has a couple of acres of triticale he wanted to harvest. Took a couple of hours to clean it up, replace a couple belts and remove a petrified cat from under the lower draper. Any way the combine has a hart carter scourkleen on it. We started to combine and the grain bypassed the tank and ended up in the bag for weed seeds. Obviously that wasn't our goal so we disconnected the scourkleen. 
My question is exactly how do you utilize a scoukleen when harvesting small grains or soybeans when you have the availability of a scourkleen.  Do i need to bypass it or what?

	Been many yrs....but i'm sure it uses different screens inside for given crop. Was a 90 model. Dad always cut beans and collected the weed seed in the bag. Usually just dumped it in a pile when full claiming it would rot. When cutting clover the bag got the good seed and the bin got the crappy stuff. I don't know how that worked. Think he would recycle the bin trash and get some more seed in the bag. Don't remember how he did that either. Some one will know what's up.

	I'm betting you don't have a screen installed, or the screen rusted out and is letting everything end up in the weed seed discharge auger.

	Pull the front cover(three wing nuts and three machine screws )to access the screen. Can't find an owners manual for sale

	When I added a scour kleen on my 72, I only had one screen that came with it which was a good size for soybeans, but the holes were too big for wheat. I never had any luck finding more screens for it. I ended up buying a piece of perforated sheet metal (from MSC or McMaster Carr or someplace like that) with holes small enough to work for wheat and cut it to size, rolled it into a tube and spot welded the seam. I'm sure the correct screen would work a lot better, but it does a good enough job for me

	Thanks guys. Seems like the way to proceed is to find one of any size as a template and then see about some stock material. If anyone has a "loaner" i would gladly provide a deposit. For soybeans, i would need a number 5 screen
